American Heritage Building

Richmond, Virginia

The Heritage building was built originally as the American National Bank. Doubled in size in 1905, the building now has fourteen levels: two retail, one is office space, and the balance is residential.

In 1970 the building was subjected to an unfortunate face-lift where much of the buildings elegant stonework was removed. Our task was to re-install some dignity and make it a desirable address again. The original terracotta detail was restored, as were most of the original window configurations. We installed new balconies at the tenth floor, a new cornice, windows and sills that recall the original design. The entrance was added to differentiate the original brick from the rough textured brick installed in 1970.

The project was completed in December of 2004.
