American Tobacco Building, Richmond, Virginia [club room] [pool view]

American Tobacco Building

Richmond, Virginia

Located at the base of Church Hill in Richmond, Virginia, the project entailed the renovation of four tobacco warehouses into a multiuse complex. The majority of the building are market rate apartments and the amenities to support those apartments, including a 2-story club room where the original boilers were located, enclosed parking, a roof-top pool with commanding views of the Richmond skyline and James River basin, and a very tall, skylit cigar smoking room in the old smoke stack.

The total project is 206,000SF over 153 apartments, and retail and office spaces.

Built originally as a shoe factory, by the 1940s most of the buldings of the complex were being used by the tobacco industry. At the time of aquisition, the building was only occupiable on the lower levels.

Completed in 2006.
